Farmyards
Farmyards are an often neglected agricultural habitat. They are a complex habitat, including buildings, trees and shrubs and often small gardens. Farmyards can be of great importance to birds. The chapter shows remarkable species such as the barn owl (see below), white stork, kestrels, thrushes and warblers.

This chapter also shows the importance of some birds in insect control on farms, such as the Eurasian sparrow in China and the barn swallow in Europe.
